Our New Site

Pediatrics in Practice launched a re-designed Web site in April, 2007. We are committed to continuing to advance the integration of Bright Futures health promotion into pediatric practice. Towards that end, the new site maintains all of the content found in the previous version, but is reorganized to make it more user friendly. Additional content has been added and new interactive capabilities are available to users.

All materials on this site are still free to registered users.

Reorganization: The most apparent change is the reorganization of the site into three centers:

  • Learning Center: This center is for learners new to or interested in expanding their understanding of Bright Futures health promotion concepts in the office and community setting. It contains the Pediatrics in Practice Health Promotion Course which is currently being developed. Join the listserv to be notified as course modules are released.

  • Teaching Center: This center is the faculty development part of the site. It contains the material you are most familiar with if you used the previous version of Pediatrics in Practice. Here you will find the Pediatrics in Practice: A Health Promotion Curriculum for Child Health Professionals.
    • Curricular Modules include all of the core concepts from the curriculum
    • Teaching Modules include the six teaching strategies to help child health educators develp skills for conveying health promotion concepts to learners.

  • Practice Center: This center provides resources to help you integrate Bright Futures health promotion activites into your practice and community setting.
    • Models of Practice highlights health promotion initiatives submitted by your colleagues.
    • Practice Tools includes online resources you may wish to use in your practice.

New Interactive Features: An online Briefcase joins the e-learning modules and Journal which have always been integral interactive features of Pediatrics in Practice. The Briefcase is a centrally located place where you can collect useful information by cutting and pasting it here so it is easy to find. Unlike the Journal, the Briefcase is independant of the individual elearning modules and you may use it for any material you wish to have readily available, including resources you find in the modules or elsewhere on the Web. See Interactive Features for more information about all of the interactive elements built into this site.

Accessibility: We are committed to making Pediatrics in Practice accessible to the widest audience, including individuals with disabilities. Towards this end, all efforts have been made to comply with Section 508 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act. See Accessibility for more information.

Feedback: We'd like to hear from you. Please tell us what we've done right and how we might improve. We'd also like to hear from you if you have materials or initiatives to share in the Models of Practice or Practice Tools sections of the Practice Center, or if you have ideas on ways we may collaborate. Just send an email to: info@pediatricsinpractice.org
