A Reflective Exercise engages the learners in a continuous practice of self-observation and self-evaluation in order to understand the concepts and integrate them into their own practice. Reflective teaching motivates learners to advance from surface learning (i.e., rote memory) to deeper learning (i.e., interaction at a high level with content).
Purpose: Provide information on ways to implement
the reflective exercise teaching strategy to help you build your own educator’s
portfolio.
Objectives: After completing this module, you will be able to:
- Define reflective exercise and the rationale for its use.
- Identify best practices for teaching reflective exercise.
- Write a reflective exercise to support your learners in preparation for practice.
- Create an action plan for your future success as a reflective practitioner.
Length: This module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
